The Humanistic Tradition, Book 6: Modernism, Globalism, and the Information Age by McGraw-Hill

I actually have read this book

And it's a mediocre end to a mediocre series. The series is used as a basic introduction to humanities, but focuses much more on western topics than anything else. It's tired, boring, overall a dull and pretentiously written read. Unfortunately, my formal education requires me to have read the entire series. If there is some useful information to be gleaned from the books, it's the focus on visual arts. Otherwise, it seems counterproductive as a guide to the humanities. To me, at least, learning about thinkers and do-ers of the past is a way to relate to the world. Experiencing the work of famous writers and thinkers seems infinately more useful in shaping how a person thinks about the world. These books are an overview for an exam that misses the point.

I've never read this either....

However giving the book a one star review based on the fact that you had a bad experience with Amazon is unacceptable. Your poor rating hurts the author much more then it hurts Amazon. Many a casual browser will not even browse further past a one star rating. And despite your experience many a writer makes a great deal of money from sales on this site.
