He is one of these writer's that is walking around in rose color glasses.
blind and can't see. |
| Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card--and Lose by St. Martin's Press Painfully True |
The title bothered me BEFORE I read the book, but the subtitle is close to perfection. Mr. Elders puts into words what I have felt and believed for some time now. I felt as if he has been listening in on some of the conversations my family and I have had over the years. I will now have much better responses to the poor poor us statements that are made by so many in my family. Some in my family play the race card even though they are already winning. What a timely book.

| Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card--and Lose by St. Martin's Press Larry Elder: a man with the courage of his convictions and unwaivering logic! |
Like Bill Cosby, Larry Elder has been and will be vilified by large numbers of blacks, whites and liberal Democrats who have persuaded the black population that they are still victims and therefore dependent.
Racism has always and will always exist because most human beings, unfortunately, need somebody to look down upon.
Elder makes the case that in spite of our shortcomings, the United States of America is the land of opportunity for all races and creeds. He is to be admired by the adult population and emulated by the young! |
| Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card--and Lose by St. Martin's Press Exposes Hypocrisy and Self-Defeating Attitudes! |
Elder calls for an end to black "BMW" - Bitching, Moaning, and Whining. It sends a simple, harmful message - standards of hard work and accountability do not apply to blacks. He then goes on to blame "media malpractice" for providing a megaphone for baseless, outlandish charges of racism, and decries the hypocrisy of ignoring blacks smearing whites (eg. Al Sharpton's earlier unfounded attacks on whites for baseless allegations of crimes against blacks).
Racism, claims Elder, provides an easy way to avoid serious examination of issues - eg. why black loan applications get turned down at a greater rate, or why waitresses often dislike serving blacks.
"Stupid Black Men" also provides evidence that in some issues, Republicans are more aligned with blacks than Democrats - illegal immigration (impact job opportunities for blacks), privatizing Social Security (black males die younger and thus benefit less from the program), and pro-life.
Elder clearly takes a position against Affirmative Action, contending he'd rather have a 747 pilot who aced training than one there because of racial preference.
Finally, Elder references the 15-year failed Kansas City, Mo. effort to improve minority education through greatly increased spending ($11,700/pupil) - little, no effect. Parents are the key. My one criticism of "Stupid Black Men" is that he did not spend enough time on this key topic. |
| Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card--and Lose by St. Martin's Press Right On |
Finally a man who is not ashamed to tell it like it is.
Quit whining and take some personal responsibility. |
| Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card--and Lose by St. Martin's Press Product Description |
Is life unfair for black Americans?
Is racial equality the answer to every question of public policy?
Are a huge group of citizens being kept down by “the man”?
Radio host and bestselling author Larry Elder has made a career out of being a thorn-in-the-side of the conventional wisdom crowd. He deflates the pompous and points out the completely logical truths hidden behind the nutty rhetoric and out-of-control pandering of many of the politicians and so-called leaders of a variety of special interest groups. In Stupid Black Men, he takes on the mind-set that always captures the most media attention—as well as masses of public money—in this country: those who rail against racism as the root of all problems, and who end up hurting precisely those they claim to be helping.
Whether they are demagogues like Al Sharpton, established politicians like Hillary Clinton, or entertainers like Danny Glover, no one escapes Elder’s cogent arguments and rapier wit. His sometimes hilarious and always infuriating examples of wrong-headedness skewer not just politicians for their smugness and hypocrisy, but also actors, educators, religious leaders and the “mainscream media” for keeping the story in the headlines.
But Elder has a positive message, too: though they are fewer—and generally not as loud-mouthed—there are leaders and role models today who want to sweep away race-based whining and urge everyone in America, to share in the hard work, smart thinking and optimism that make this country great.
