Rainbow Valley, Rilla of Ingleside) by Starfire One of my favorite series... | This was one of my favorite series when I was younger. I was probably older than the average reader when I began. My sister received the first two books as a Christmas gift and neither of us read them for years. Finally, I picked up Anne of Green Gables and started reading...and couldn't put it down. I moved on to Anne of Avonlea while entreating my parents, grandparents and all other relatives to buy me other books in the series. I loved each and every book as I read them, and over the years have read the series in its entirety multiple times.
I have to say that my favorites are the first three (Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island) and the very last one (Rilla of Ingleside), and I've definitely read those four even more than the whole series. I have favorite quotes, chapters, and incidents, and I think every young girl would love this series!
I also want to add that L.M. Montgomery is a fantastic author. I have also read her Emily of New Moon series multiple times, as well as various compilations.
