| This book is good for beginners and experienced knitters alike. It taught me how to knit, and now I use it as a reference that covers just about everything from fixing mistakes (in depth), shaping, lace, cables, color, you name it. It also has a meaty stitch pattern library included which I have used again and again. This is a must-have book for any knitter's shelf. I was bummed that it was too heavy to carry around in my bag, but now I have Visual Knitting Quick Tips, Knitting VISUAL Quick Tips (Teach Yourself VISUALLY Consumer)which is pocket-sized and light and covers a lot of the same instructional stuff along with some added bonus techniques and tips. Excellent set of books! |

| I love this book! The pictures and text actually show in detail how to master all the basics of knitting. It is an excellent reference for both beginners and experienced knitters. Stitches are shown beside the basic knit and purl. I made a scarf in a few days from a pattern in the book. Now my husband wants a scarf too! There is a glossary of terms and explanations of abbreviations. Forget how to cast on - there are several methods to illustrate how to do it - English and Continental methods are illustrated. For those of us who are more graphic learners, this is the book for you. The photographs are outstanding - not just line drawings as some books use. If I could recommend just one basic knitting book, this one would be it. |

| The book is nicely outlined and the pictures are great. It shows both english and continental style. In a matter of no time I was already knitting the more complicated stitches. I also like how it has beginner to intermediate projects. I can see myself always using this book for the variety of stitches patterns it has and as an overall reference. After seeing this book I want to buy the Teach Yourself Visually Crocheting. |

| I've been a fan of Teach Yourself Visually books for learning computer programs for years. As an beginner-intermediate level knitter, I grabbed this book the minute I saw it, and it has been an invaluable resource. The full-color photography really helps in showing techniques. I found it most useful in learning how to do the kitchener stitch when making socks. It was also helpful in learning the various increases and decreases, picking up stitches, and showing the best seaming methods for particular edges. This could be the only book any beginner knitter might need, and a great addition to any knitter's library. |
