| Alexandrina: The agony and the glory by Veritas Publications Incredible story of faith and courage |
Blessed Alexandrina Maria da Costa of Portugal vowed to obey the command given to her by Jesus "set the world on fire" with love for Him. Bedridden and paralyzed, she suffered tremendous torments both physically and spiritually in her service to God. "The Agony and the Glory" is a magnificent testament of one woman's faith and unending love for God.
Although Blessed Alexandrina was of course a Catholic mystic, any Christian can appreciate her story. I recently re-read at a time of spiritual crisis and found it tremendously inspiring. Highly recommend, and I hope to live to see the day that she is beatified and takes her official place on the roll of God's saints. |
