Wish I'd never read

I was a huge Dog fan. Loved the show. Felt like he was a truly good person wanting to do the right thing. Then I read the book and wish I hadn't. There is, I suppose, such a thing as too much information. I had thought Dog was someone who screwed up, ended up on the wrong side of the law, repented, turned his life around, and began working for good. Instead, his book tells story after story of him screwing up "yet again." It wasn't a one time thing, it was repeated run-ins with the law, fights, sex, drugs. It seems, based on his own words in the book, that he didn't choose the right side of the law because it was the right thing to do, but rather he enjoys the attention. Every time he screwed up, instead of dusting himself off and trying again, he seemed to rail against everyone, including God. Very negative and so much anger. I had also anticipated we would learn details about his children, his wives before Beth, etc., but there is almost nothing about any of that. It feels like they are not important. While I'm sure that isn't true, that's how it comes across. The details about sex and drugs was way more than I needed to know. It's one thing to say - I did this. - You don't have to give a blow by blow account. I went into the book really admiring Dog. I finished the book not liking him at all. From the minute I closed the book, I never watched another episode of Dog again. It left that bad of a taste in my mouth. I am not saying he is or he isn't a good person. I am saying that based on this book, I no longer have any good feelings about him. To make matters worse, the book is boring to boot. If it was really exciting, then at least I could have said it was worth reading regardless of how I felt about him afterwards, but I can't even give it that.

Dog

This book was disappointing to me. I have watched Dog on TV, and followed a little of the drama of the Mexico arrest and the results that followed.
I felt this book to be interesting, but in the same regard a bit self promoting on his part. I think there were portions of the book that portray Dog as a "Dog", a womanizer and less than attractive. I think I have lost some of my interest in him and the show because of this book.

HE'S REALLY HUMAN!

I LOVE THIS BOOK. I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF DOG, HIS SHOW, AND HIS FAMILY FOR YEARS. THIS BOOK IS BRUTALLY HONEST, AND DEPICTS HIM EXACTLY AS HE IS... HUMAN. HE MESSES UP AND TRIES TO LEARN FROM IT, AND HELP OTHERS LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES. HE HELPS US ALL REMEMBER THAT NOBODY'S PERFECT AND NOBODY GETS THROUGH LIFE WITHOUT STRUGGLES. I MISS HIS SHOW TERRIBLY, SO READING THIS BOOK WAS AN EXTRA SPECIAL TREAT. I THINK IT SHOULD BE A MUST READ FOR ALL OF US. HE CAN TEACH US A LOT.

AS ONE REVIEWER MENTIONED, THE FOUL LANGUAGE IS A BIT MUCH. BUT IF YOU LOOK PAST THAT TO WHAT THIS MAN IS REALLY TRYING TO SAY, IT IS VERY WORTH IT. WOULD MAKE A GREAT TV MOVIE!
