| Physicians Desk Reference 2008: Hospital/Library Version (Physicians' Desk Reference (Pdr)) by Physician's Desk Reference Essential Reference |
| Essential reference for those who take prescription drugs and wish to know more about those drugs. Most valuable to those with scientific training, but useful to all. Much better than simplistic references put out by others. |
| Physicians Desk Reference 2008: Hospital/Library Version (Physicians' Desk Reference (Pdr)) by Physician's Desk Reference AS LONG AS IT LASTS . . . Useful & Compact! |
While the PDR® is the industry standard and has a wealth of information, plus it is wonderful to have it on your computer vs. the massive book format, there is a MAJOR DRAWBACK TO THIS PURCHASE. I am not a M.D. I am a layperson with an ever-growing number of illnesses, hence numbers of physicians and medicines. This electronic version is TIME LIMITED. Per section 2)TERM of the EULA, "license shall remain in effect for between FIFTEEN AND TWENTY MONTHS . . .", "AN AUTOMATIC SHUTDOWN DEVICE SHALL RENDER THE PRODUCT INOPERABLE AFTER THE TERM EXPIRES."
I just spent $100.00 on something that seems like it ought to be labeled as a "trial version," or even a demo, (free; if you like it you can the BUY the registered version). WHY is this so different than the BOOK? It certainly does not vaporize into thin air after 15-20 months! I assumed this version, (the stand-alone e CD PDR), would be different. In 2005, at a bookstore I bought the combination of the hardcover book with the companion e CD PDR for about $100.00. The e version, (of course), no longer works. If you are an M.D. and can afford this, (i.e., write it off, then more power to you). However, if you are someone in my position, or someone who just believes there is something WRONG with this . . . I thought I'd pass it on. |
| Physicians Desk Reference 2008: Hospital/Library Version (Physicians' Desk Reference (Pdr)) by Physician's Desk Reference The definative reference book! |
| I always get each year's book....as this is THE REFERENCE BOOK by which the standard is set. You can get some great slashed prices here for a book that retails for over a $100.00 |
| Physicians Desk Reference 2008: Hospital/Library Version (Physicians' Desk Reference (Pdr)) by Physician's Desk Reference BEWARE - contains 2007 PDR on CD, NOT 2008 PDR CD |
This book was published before the 2008 PDR on CD was available. Instead get the more up-to-date 2008 PDR Electronic Library on CD here at Amazon. Physicians' Desk Reference PDR Electronic Library 2008
The 2008 PDR Electronic Library has the full 2008 PDR + 2008 PDR Nonprescription Drugs/Dietary Supplements + 2008 PDR Ophthalmic Medicines + PDR Drug Interactions/Side Effects all fully integrated on one CD.
So the 2008 PDR Electronic Library is much more up-to-date than this 2007 version and much more comprehensive and much more convenient/portable than this heavy 10 lb book! Many sellers on Amazon often sell it for less than $60. |
