2008 Guide to Literary Agents by Writers Digest Books Better Off Doing A Web Search on Writer's Board
This book contained some strange, contradictory advice. Also, known scammers managed to get into the addition again, making easy prey of new writers who do not know better.
I highly recommend using valid searches available on legitimate writer forums instead of purchasing this book.
Unfortunately, by the time this hits the middle of the year, a lot of the information will be changed via various agents. Also, it is strange to list agents who are taking NO clients still.
Word to the wise: Yes, it has valuable information. But it is information you can get for free via the internet.

2008 Guide to Literary Agents by Writers Digest Books Good tool, but need to use hand in hand with your computer
This is a good book that should be used as a starting point for finding an agent. I am currently using this book and there are a lot of leads in it, however many of them are out of date. You need to use this book in conjunction with the internet. You have to check out the literary agents' websites for up to the date information. Some are no longer accepting new clients, some are only taking email queries, some are only accepting snail mail queries. It is a good tool, but you will need the internet too.

2008 Guide to Literary Agents by Writers Digest Books Decent
It helps quite a bit with organizing my marketing and query letters. But many of the agencies mentioned within change policy and/or information too quickly to keep up with. Of course, this isn't the fault of the authors of this, but if you order this make sure that it's only to get the agency's contact information and not for their policy.
2008 Guide to Literary Agents by Writers Digest Books The 1,2,3's of how to get published!
If you have had the pleasure and pain of writing a book, are proud of it and are ready to move ahead with publication, this is the book for you. It is easy to read and follow and gives you step by step instructions on how to "eat the elephant" one bite at a time. The included comprehensive list of literary agents, what types of literary works they are interested in and submission requirements are invaluable. Get the current version, study it and it is certain that you'll agree that this book is worth every penny you'll pay for it.
