CATIA V5 Tutorials Mechanism Design & Animation by Schroff Development Corporation

Fairly useless except for a new feature reference

This book shows a few of the tool bars needed for CATIA. The examples are for simple mechanics such as seen on the cover. The information is interesting; however unless you have the software and are using this book as a beginning CATIA course (and have access to CATIA Version 5, Release 14 & 15) or an upgrade information manual there is nothing unique and/or useful to the casual reader looking for a grasp on what CATIA is.

It does serve a purpose of demystifying the application for people that are unfamiliar with the product. But what a price to pay to find out. A 30 day trial dvd/cd would help this book immensely.

Product Description

This book of tutorials is intended as a training guide for those who have a basic familiarity with part and assembly modeling in CATIA V5 Release 16 wishing to create and simulate the motion of mechanisms within CATIA Digital Mock Up (DMU).

The tutorials are written so as to provide a hands-on look at the process of creating an assembly, developing the assembly into a mechanism, and simulating the motion of the mechanism in accordance with some time based inputs. The processes of generating movie files and plots of the kinematic results are covered. The majority of the common joint types are covered. Students majoring in engineering/technology, designers using CATIA V5 in industry, and practicing engineers can easily follow the book and develop a sound yet practical understanding of simulating mechanisms in DMU.
