Eckhart Tolle Audio Collection

I really enjoyed this collection of audio sessions. It has enhanced my understanding of The New Earth which I am currently reading now. I would recommend it for anyone who is interested in the teachings of Eckhart Tolle.

Is this it?

I thought the Power of Now would say something about it being The Power of Now series. I got a Trilogy. It's OK. He sounds like he has had some elightenment experiences, but he seems to make fun of people and he has made up an image The Pain Body as a teaching tool, which he has begun to treat as fact. I know what he is talking about (I'm a bodyworker psychotherapist who works in trauma), and his map is not exactly accurate. He says that the pain body wants to fight. I don't think that is true. We imprint the way we are treated, and when we can't give it back to our offender, we are prone to scapegoat. So, he's a little off in my opinion for someone so highly regarded.

Unclear Audio

Unfortunatly, I had to return the collection due to the quality of the product. While the information is life transforming, the sound is very unclear. During Tolle's talks and meditations you hear coughing and even a wierd laugh from someone attending, every so often. I would highly recommend the CD of his book, The Power of Now. That is done professionally and worth every penny. The Audio Collection is the opposite. It's just thrown together and should be taken off the market and recorded again.

Simplifies What Once Appeared Complicated

When The Power of Now was first published, I couldn't get through it; I found it too cerebral. Then I listened to The Eckhart Tolle Audio Collection, a collection of his 3 audio bestsellers, and it all came together for me. After that, I quickly and easily read The Power of Now and his newest title, A New Earth. What an awakening! If you tend to learn better by listening than reading, check this audio collection out. It may just simplify what once appeared complicated. Eckhart is affecting world transformation with his teaching.

Book Description

With his first book, The Power of Now, still making the bestseller lists (including the San Francisco Chronicle’s) over a year after its publication, Eckhart Tolle continues to reach listeners from all walks of life with his simple and profound message: that only in the present moment can we free ourselves to seek our highest potential as human beings. Now this gifted teacher’s most useful audio sessions are available in one convenient resource, with The Eckhart Tolle Collection. This new slipcased gift edition includes:

• The Realization of Being – How meditation opens the entry point to stillness, our greatest spiritual teacher, allowing us to merge with this moment in time

• Living the Liberated Life and Dealing with the Pain-Body – Points a way out of the conditioned mind that keeps us trapped and unhappy, to a deeper level of consciousness beyond thought

• Even the Sun Will Die – Historic interview recorded on September 11, 2001, shows that even in the face of disaster, a miracle happens when we say "yes" to living in this moment and no other.

History (beta)
Mike Lee: “As far as the specifics of the announcement itself, I am completely pleased. All the API I was afraid might not be there are there. Integration with Xcode, Interface Builder, and Instruments is more than I could have hoped for.”

I think I read that even Bonjour will be there. (Hope that’s true—it’s still tough to get through to download the SDK, at this writing. No surprise. Patience is indicated.)

Cats Can Has Grammar
Anil Dash: “The rise of these new subspecies of lolcats are particularly interesting to me because ‘I can has cheezeburger?’ has a fairly consistent grammar. I wasn’t sure this was true until I realized that it’s possible to get cat-speak wrong.”

Hivelogic podcast
Dan Benjamin: “Yup, it’s true, I’ve finally gone ahead and recorded my first podcast. I talked with my friend, the famous John Gruber of Daring Fireball, about Macworld 2007 and what we might expect to see there.”

My Dream App
Phillip Ryu: “You’re about to be involved in a revolution in the software industry: a no holds barred, totally transparent and ridiculously low barrier version of Macintosh shareware development. Ever wished you had the programming chops to create a killer app? For the first time, you’re going to have a chance to make those dream apps come true.”

The True Story of Audion
Panic: “I mean, do you ever wonder about the stories behind everyday products? What names were Procter & Gamble considering before they finally picked “Swiffer”? (Springle? Sweepolio? Dirtrocker?)”

Cocoal.icio.us now open source
Sci-Fi Hi-Fi: Weblog: “Good news for anyone who has ever wished Cocoal.icio.us did X or had Y: now you have the power to make your dreams come true (well, your software-related ones anyway). You heard me right: I finally made good on my promise to clean up the Cocoal.icio.us project and open source the code.”

On Software Design: Consistently Inconsistent
Michael Dupuis: “At first blush, you’d look at these two sets of applications and determine that ‘Aqua apps run to the window edges, and Metal apps have borders.’ But herein lies one of the many inconsistencies. While this is true in general, Apple’s Safari (Metal) throws this paradigm out the window and runs its elements to the window edges. DiskUtility however uses the default Aqua theme and has borders.”

The Software Construction Analogy is Broken
kuro5hin: “Our decades of trying to use [the construction analogy] have not taken us very far considering the incredibly bright minds that have been working on it. Instead we have to explicitly recognize the true attributes of software creation: its incredible flexibility, its odd economics, and the remarkable human talents required to create it.”

NetNewsWire 1.0.2b5
This beta fixes the most common newsreader crash, the updateUnreadCount crash—at least, testing so far indicates that this is true. It may not entirely be fixed, so sending us crash logs is always a good idea. More details are on the change notes.

Rumor: Safari tabbed browsing
Perhaps you’ve seen the rumor (with screen shots) that Safari is getting tabbed browsing. Assuming these rumors are true, my hope is that you’ll be able to set a pref that says to open URLs in new tabs (when requests come from other apps such as NetNewsWire).

This way I’ll be able to use NetNewsWire with Safari the same way I use it with Chimera (er, Camino). That is, I read through the news in NetNewsWire, opening URLs as I go—in the background, in new tabs—and then I switch over to Chimera.

By the way, I like the name Camino. (The reason why should be obvious, so I won’t spell it out.)

Rumor: iSite being tested at Apple
I have no idea if it’s true, but it’s an interesting rumor. Spymac reports: “Purportedly, users will have the ability to make their .Mac web page URL redirect to their own computer. If a connection cannot be made (if the computer is turned off, for example) the traditional online version of the site will be displayed from Apple’s servers.”

Cocoa vs. Carbon
Unsanity.org: “I think general users are overrating Cocoa. Why does everybody seem to think that something running on MacOS X would be only good if it’s Cocoa? For some reason, people are getting an impression Carbon is slower, older, and generally unacceptable osx technology made up to ease the transition for existing software. Well, although this is partly true, let me clarify some points about Cocoa and Carbon.”
