| 23 Minutes in Hell by Charisma House Should be read by every Christian |
This book was very moving for me and increased my conviction that there is a God and there is Hell. I was so moved that I contacted my pastor and he is in the process now of presenting a set for sermons on Hell. Nobody wants to believe there is such a place of suffering for those who were lead astray, but there is. I have recommended it to everyone in my care group and I recommend it to you.
Grace be with you.

| 23 Minutes in Hell by Charisma House Read with Scripture in mind |
Read with caution because it seems to involve an out of the body experience which I believe is unscriptural. It also involves the Lord Jesus appearing physically before the author and speaking to him. As far as I know, the last physical appearance of the Lord was to Paul who was an apostle. We are not apostles.
With the closing of canon, it is unneedful for the Lord to appear physically or in visions. Familiar spirits can impersonate the Lord and can also give visions since as all who read scripture know, they can masquerade as angels of light and make hell seem more tolerable than reality.
Indeed the hell that the author describes, though he uses the word 'terror' often, seems relatively tolerable. While fire exists in another part of his hell a distance away, some parts of the hell he saw had no fire. It was in total darkness. And though he could hear deafening screams nearby and smell the smell of putrid sulphur, that part of hell does not seem all that bad.
God forbade Lazarus to go back to the surface of the earth to warn unbelievers of the torment of hell. Is it a little presumptuous of the author to claim to have been given the privilege (denied initially to Lazarus) to have gone to hell and come back?
All that said, if you read the book with an open mind (with scripture at the back of your mind), the description of the pits of fire are very vivid and certainly nobody given a choice would desire to be in the pit. The strange horrible 13-foot creatures that attempted to pull his arms and legs apart ('because they have a hatred for man as mankind is made in the image of God') sounds terrifying.
And you could also argue that his account of hell appears more 'scriptural' than the fantastic account given in Mary Baxter's book also on being in hell.
The author's description of his experience in hell is short occupying only a quarter of the book. He devotes the next chapter to explain why he thinks his experience was divine, alluding to many coincidences like meeting various people in his travels who had the same experience as he had plus how some people seem to know he had a hell experience even though he had not told them before. Another chapter on how a person can be saved. And the closing chapter on an faq on hell.
I find the appendix to be useful as it provides a particular aspect on hell and the verses from scripture supporting that aspect. eg evidence that there different degrees of punishment in hell ('It would be more tolerable for sodom and gommora than for thee...') and evidence of humiliation and nakedness in hell ('Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.' Rev 16). |
| 23 Minutes in Hell by Charisma House How To Prevent Going to HELL ! |
If I had not been a believer in Christ and the promise of Heaven before I read this book I certainly would have become one after reading this wonderfully written book. It describes in great detail the verses in the Bible that back up completely his experiences and the reason we must repent and ask forgiveness for our sins if we ever expect not to spend Eternity in Hell.
It is a gripping realization of what awaits in Hell, and the option to be able to make the decision not to have to spend Eternity there.
I suggest everyone read this, as we all have to face death - and since we never know when - it is imperative to read this immediately. |
| 23 Minutes in Hell by Charisma House 23 Minutes that changed my life |
| I went to a farmers market in our town and saw a stand that had jewelry on it and at the end was a sketched drawing of Jesus. I asked the man the reason for the picture at his booth and he told me he was there because he knew he was supposed to talk to someone about the Lord. He also had a book under the picture and the book was titled "23 Minutes in Hell". Now I am not the type of person to put much stock in a statement like the one the man made but for some reason the book intrigued me. I wished him well and went on my way. Weeks later, I was at church and my Mother had a book in her arm and I noticed its title...can you guess? Yes, it was 23 Minutes in Hell. I asked her why she chose it and she said she just saw it and picked it up even though she had a lot of other books she was reading. I asked her if I could read it first. I read this book daily, as it was so hard to put down. I can't tell you the impact it had on my life. It laid so many doubts I had to rest...it was like the book went from simple letters on pages to life...I will never question the reality of hell and I urge you to read this book. I shared it with my husband who said his life has been changed by Bill's testimony and we shared it with a friend whose walk with the Lord is growing. AMAZING... |
