I would have like more solutions. I would have like more ways to help young girls. I am a school teacher and I would like to know how I can protect and bring the future up as best I can.

The dogma that teenage pregnancies, educational failure, and mental disruptions are caused by over-sexualization of the youth is upheld and strict parental control is proposed.
A look at the sexually by far more liberal Europe with thorough sexual education at high school level including correct use of condoms and risk analysis of sexual practices, which results in by far smaller rates of teenage pregnancies, less abuse of antidepressants, and smaller hiv-infection rates, indicates that demonization of teenage sexuality, outrage about belly-button piercings and mini skirts, and glorification of abstinence only as done in this book are not the cure but the cause of most teenage problems. | | Prude: How the Sex-Obsessed Culture Damages Girls (and America, Too!) by Center Street Worthwhile for parents | "Prude" is a great book for parents. I must say that my eyes were opened to some things I wasn't aware of, and knowledge is power, right? I would say, however, that if you have teenagers in your home, be careful about letting them read this book. It may give them new ideas of ways to be bad, or they may find the author's explicitness titillating. I did think she took some of her ideas a bit too far, but then perhaps I've just been tainted by our wicked society.
If you consider yourself "conservative" and wish our society would reign back a bit, you will probably appreciate the author's point of view. She demonstrates how our society has become overly sexualized, but also gives us hope that the pendulum may be starting to swing the other way.
