| Salvaged: The Art of Jason Felix by Insight Editions Astonishing | "Astonishing" is just one of many Stan-Lee-superhero-comic-esque prefixes I could use to describe Jason Felix's new art book. Once you see yourself I'm sure you'll call it amazing, incredible, or something similar yourself.
Jason's art is a breathe of fresh air. The last time I got an artistic rush like this was the first time I saw Dave McKean's 'Sandman' covers. Jason has embraced & acknowledged the work of McKean & other visionaries to create a style all his own that seems to perfectly blend the disturbing with the beautiful.
You need to buy his book now & support someone committed to taking the art world to a new level. | | Salvaged: The Art of Jason Felix by Insight Editions Great Book! | | There are some very cool creepy images in this book. I like the fusion of human and mechanical forms. If you enjoy bio-mechanical/surreal art, Salvaged is a must have. | | Salvaged: The Art of Jason Felix by Insight Editions Great art book by a great artist | I have collected the work of Jason Felix since his days as an illustrator for White Wolf Games. It was amazing to see his art progress in leaps and bounds, and in just a few years he moved from doing interior black and white illustrations to doing color covers.
This art book presents a great collection of Mr. Felix's work. Just like the title suggests, the images that Mr. Felix presents here could be considered disturbing, the objects (or the combination of objects) might look like something that could have been found at the junk yard...but he "salvages" it all and presents as art that is thought provoking AND mesmerizing!
I can't wait for the second volume! | | Salvaged: The Art of Jason Felix by Insight Editions Amazing work! | Jason Felix has always been one of my favorite artists, so I was really excited to see that he finally released a collection of his art.
Get ready to see some incredible art and design. JS Rossbach, who designed and laid out the book, is a perfect match for the intricate beauty of Jason's work. Every page, every letter, and every stroke of color seems to have been well-thought about and taken into account when designing the book. The entire package is as much a piece of art as it is a book. Jason gives detailed information about each piece in the book. And there is also a cleverly-written foreward by artist Rick Berry.
The book itself is sturdy, with very high quality printing and it a steal for the amount being charged. Do yourself a favor and get this book while you still can. | | Salvaged: The Art of Jason Felix by Insight Editions Product Description | | Discover a vivid landscape of imagination where the human body is collaged and refashioned with often disparate industrail elements. Is it a surreal world where the interplay between man and machine is beautiful, shocking, grotesque, captivating, and relevant to our times. Young, award-winning artist Jason Felix began sketching and drawing extensively at age eleven. Inspired to draw and create by watching the movie Alien with his father, Jason Felix's fascination with fantasy, science fiction, monsters, and creatures grew as he took in such classic sci-fi films as Conan the Barbarian, Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Clash of the Titans. Largely self-taught, he published his own comic book at age seventeen (sold through Diamond Distribution), and his portfolio grew exponentially from there. Salvaged collects Felix's work for the first time, and contains many new and never-before-seen images. His style ranges from sci-fi and fantasy to increasingly grotesque, even disturbing images. Rick Berry, world-renowned pioneer in digital art, says, "Human beings are becoming fabulous and strange...and it's happening very fast. Felix is there. That's where he's looking and for all the scary bits you can also see the excitement, the sense of stunning transformation, and beauty. I can't seem to take my eyes off the weird wonder of his visionary assumption." Known for his digital photographic manipulations, Felix's works have been showcased internationally and have directly inspired numerous Hollywood projects. He has been involved in visually establishing computer games such as StarCraft and the Prince of Persia series. |
