Take Your Photography to the Next Level: From Inspiration to Image by Rocky Nook Great Photography Inspiration Book
'Take Your Photography to the Next Level: From Inspiration to Image' is a great book for photographers who are looking to find inspiration in the photos they are looking to take. Writing is fantastic as the author continually explains how he is moved by scenary and the photos that he has taken and it's a true joy for all of those that loved the art of photography. Having said that, it's important to note that this book is more about the words than the images (important to point out). There are plenty of photos throughout this 200 page book, but the 'meat' is in the ABCs rather than the full color/b&w spectrum.
If you are looking for a book that discusses inspiration with live photography (humans, animals, insects, etc.) then this book is NOT for you. The only photo you will find of a person is of the author himself on the inside backjacket. Content instead is focussed on landscapes, machinery, and architecture.
If you want to discover how a photographer finds inspiration in non-physical photos this is an enjoyable read. If you work or are passionate about the field this also is a solid purchase, it's just not what you would normally expect from a photography book when the photos themselves take a back seat to the writing within.

Take Your Photography to the Next Level: From Inspiration to Image by Rocky Nook Great written content but the Photos are uninspiring
I love the fact that the author has basically left the equipment out of the equation. He concentrated on the aesthetics of picture taking and not the equipment, which too many books don't do. He's a great writer as well.
Unfortunately I didn't find his photos especially inspiring, however technically perfect they may be.
Still a good one to read though.
Not a "how to", or a "what equipment to buy" but rather a "how to see" book. I wish there were more books like this. |
Take Your Photography to the Next Level: From Inspiration to Image by Rocky Nook How to take photographs
This book is for photographers who already know enough about how to drive their cameras and how to drive PhotoShop, but realize that there is more than this to taking good photographs. It is a digest of many blogs written on "what to do when you go out to take photographs". Inevitably it represents only one person's view, but nonetheless, that is a great help.
Take Your Photography to the Next Level: From Inspiration to Image by Rocky Nook Style and content left me wondering
I liked the reviews and so bought the book. Frankly, I was very disappointed. I was put off by the "I,I,I" style and just couldn't relate to the advice very well.
Take Your Photography to the Next Level: From Inspiration to Image by Rocky Nook Excellent Book
If you want to learn how to approach your photography in different light and work on composition b/c you have had enough practice with the technical stuff...I highly recommend you buy this book. Very well written, great humor and priceless information for the dedicated photographer.
