BusySync 2.0 Released with Google Calendar Support
TidBITS: “BusyMac released BusySync 2.0 today, an update to its software that synchronizes iCal calendars across systems. The new version’s primary change beyond bug fixes and robustness is the capability to synchronize with Google Calendar.”

More awesome Mac software from the Pacific Northwest. ;)

By the way, John Chaffee of BusySync will be presenting at next week’s Seattle Xcoders meeting on automating tech support using FogBugz, shell scripts, etc.

Great. Expectations.
Ars Technica, John Siracusa: Great. Expectations.: On the Macworld Expo keynote: “Starbucks + WiMAX: Stimulants any time, anywhere!”

Not letting it slide
John C. Welch: No, in fact I don’t think I’ll be letting this slide: “While I am normally happy to poke fun at the crazy, the stupid, and the like, there is a level of crazy that even I have the sense to just leave alone, at least under normal circumstances.”

The Message
John Siracusa: “To tide you over until I actually get around to writing about the iPhone, I offer the fruit of a few misspent nights at the keyboard. Some would say that this is evidence of too much free time, but sometimes I just need a change of pace.”

Hivelogic podcast
Dan Benjamin: “Yup, it’s true, I’ve finally gone ahead and recorded my first podcast. I talked with my friend, the famous John Gruber of Daring Fireball, about Macworld 2007 and what we might expect to see there.”

FlexTime 1.1 gets new interface
Red Sweater Blog: “This release has a markedly different (improved, I’d say) interface, that was inspired in large part by the HIG speech that John Gruber delivered at C4.”

MacTech Top 25 List
MacTech Magazine: “MacTech Magazine today announced the MacTech 25: The Mac technical community’s most influential people.”

Apple employees and MacTech staff weren’t eligible, and voting was public, which makes this quite different from the MDJ Power 25. Though a few of the same names appear (including mine ;), the MacTech list looks like it has more developers and bloggers. Names include such rock stars as Jonathan “Wolf” Rentzsch, Drunkenbatman, John Gruber, Aaron Hillegas, John Siracusa, and plenty more.

(Okay, the name Drunkenbatman still cracks me up, especially to see it played straight on a list like this. Love it.)

Good Luck To John Gruber!
Daring Fireball: “There’s no other way for me to start this other than by firing away: Last week I left my full-time job at Joyent, for the sole reason so that I can write Daring Fireball as a full-time job.”

NetNewsWire Style: Dartanion
John Warne: “This is my first attempt at a style for NetNewsWire, an RSS and Atom Newsreader for Mac OS X. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!”

Interview with John Gruber
GUIdebook: “The other thing I remember from the initial Aqua demo was the crazy purple button in the top-right corner of each window. Clicking it would put you in a new ‘single-window mode,’ where you could only see one window at a time. The fact that that feature never saw the light of day is proof that it’s possible to talk Steve Jobs out of a bad idea—that purple button had ‘Jobs’ written all over it.”

ars technica Tiger Review
John Siracusa: “Tiger includes updates that are at least twice as significant as any single past update. Mac OS X is now getting to the point where significant improvements require a larger time investment. As far as the core OS is concerned, most of the low-hanging fruit has been harvested. Now it’s time for Apple to get down to the real work of improving Mac OS X.”

Daring Fireball: Today’s Theme: Themes
Daring Fireball: “If your application is a professional production tool, and your company headquarters are at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino CA, you may use the special Pro theme to provide a special appearance for your application.”

John has a special knack for walking right into spiders nests.
